The Japanese press is always quick to speculate on new releases, so we are not sure if these images are real. The next-generation Pajero will however look a lot like the photos you see here, with the design following a new edgy theme. From its layout however, it seems the Pajero will continue with the same underpinnings as the current model, with the same 3.8-litre V6. The new model was officially shown at the 2006 Paris Motor Show.

The new Outlander is already for sale in Japan. However, the new model will only go on sale in the United States from November 2006 onwards, and these American-built models are the ones that will be imported to the Middle East even more later. The model will have a 3.0-litre V6 standard, as well as a selectable 2WD/4WD feature. The official worldwide debut of the Outlander is to be done in Europe.

2007 Mini Cooper
The Mini will undergo its first radical makeover since it took on its modern new form. With wraparound headlights and a flatter grille, it mixes new design elements with classic styling cues. Engines should still all be inline fours, with the S receiving a turbo version. New variations will include the return of the Clubman wagon, maybe even a pickup. BMW has already released information on the new model.

2008 Mercedes Benz C-Class
Undergoing hot-weather testing in Dubai, the next C-Class will be a more sporting sedan to compete better in a crowded field. The engine choices might be a 190 hp 1.8L inline-four, a 210 hp 2.5L V6 and a 270 hp 3.5L V6. The AMG version will have a 400 hp 5.4L V8. An all-wheel-drive model as well as wagon versions will come later.

Jeep was originally planning bigger vehicles, but with rising fuel prices, they’ve gone the other way and are introducing smaller 4WDs. The Patriot is an off-road capable compact 4WD that follows Jeep’s latest styling trend. Powered by a 170 hp 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine, possibly mated to a 6-speed manual and an optional CVT automatic.

The five door version is already out. The smallest Hummer yet will be available in a variety of body styles, including wagon with three or five doors, and pick-up truck with single or double cab. Engines will include a new 3.7-litre Vortec inline-5, maybe even turbocharged in the near future for possible Alpha performance models.

2007 Honda CR-V
The little Honda 4WD will be even more of a car than a real 4WD, with a soft controversial shape and a new range of i-VTEC engines. The main gearbox choices with probably be a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed automatic. Honda will offer it with only a 166 hp 2.4-litre four-cylinder from the Accord, similar to what competitor Toyota offers for the RAV-4.

2009 Ford Bronco
Ford desperately needs a tough all-terrain SUV to compete with the likes of GM’s Hummer and DaimlerChrysler’s Jeep brands. Ford’s own Land Rover is too upscale, pricey and un-American to appeal to the masses. Therefore, Ford will probably come up will an all-new go-anywhere SUV wearing the revived Bronco nameplate, powered by a V8 no less.

The new X5 is going to be here by the end of the year. The new one will have the upgraded 3.0-litre inline-6 from the 3-Series as well as the 4.8-litre V8 engine from the previous range. The new model is going to be longer to fit a third row of seats. BMW has already debuted the new model in USA.

2008 Audi A5
Stories about a coupe version the A4 keep coming and going. This time round, the coupe may actually come. Taking styling cues from various concepts, the coupe shares engines and platform with the A4, including the 2.0-litre turbo 4, the 3.2-litre V6, and even a 300 hp 3.6-litre V6 and an S5 version packing V8 power. The A4 convertible should become an A5 variant.
